Method 1: choose the length of the roller
1
Find a 1/4 to paint a smooth surface, such as wood or metal inch (0.64 cm) fluff. If you are painting a very smooth surface, which may show streaks or blemishes, such as wood, walls, or metal, choose a short-haired roller. If you want to paint smooth plasterboard walls or light-textured surfaces, you should also choose short shots. For disposable rollers, please use foam rollers instead of woven or fabric fluff rollers. The foam will apply paint without leaving streaks or lint.
2
Choose a 1/4 to 3/8 inch (0.640.95 cm) small roller to brush the media texture surface. 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) NAP is a standard size small roller brush, which makes it a good choice for most painting projects. If you are spraying ceilings or interior walls, use this size because it will absorb more paint than fluff that is shorter than fluff and will fill a slightly textured surface.
If you are still not sure that this midday roller brush is the right one for your project, start with a 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) midday roller brush. If the roller picks up too much paint job, move down to a 1/4 inch (0.64 cm) midday roller brush.
Method 2: choose roller material
1
If you want to spray a smooth surface with a high gloss paint, choose a foam roller. If a braid or braid roller is used, streaks may appear on the very smooth surface. To apply paint without leaving lint or bubbly texture, buy a foam roller. These are very suitable for spraying metal doors, cabinets or decorations. Since foam rollers cannot maintain their service life well after use and cleaning, most of them are considered disposable.
2
Purchase synthetic or hybrid roller covers for latex or acrylic paint. Cover layers made of polyester, nylon, or polyester can be used with any latex, acrylic or oil-based paint. For longer-lasting coverings, choose a Polyester Paint Roller. Wool helps the drum absorb more paint, while polyester fiber prevents rapid wear of the drum.
